About Karitane
“Karitane is a seaside community near the bottom of New Zealand’s South Island, 40km from the city of Dunedin.
Set in rolling country near the mouth of the Waikouaiti River, the town is home to a vibrant community comprising around 300 locals, as well as holiday makers from Otago and Southland. The town is home to Puketeraki marae and historic Huriawa Pa, which was a major fortification in pre-European New Zealand.
